A little dove in free flight, feeling the resistance of the air, could conclude that she would have greater success if she were in airless space.
This Is What The Hypocritical, Autocratic Witch Actually Thinks Of Representative Democracy, You, And Your Role In The Body Politic
You probably saw this, so repeating it here may seem needless, but…if you did not see it, read it now; if you did see it, meditate for a moment on what it means:
To my Republican friends: take back your party. So that it doesn’t matter so much who wins the election, because we have shared values about the education of our children, the growth of our economy, how we defend our country, our security and civil liberties, how we respect our seniors. Because there are so many things at risk right now — perhaps in another question I’ll go into them, if you want. But the fact is that elections shouldn’t matter as much as they do…But when it comes to a place where there doesn’t seem to be shared values then that can be problematic for the country, as I think you can see right now.
That’s Nancy Pelosi speaking. She has candidly summarized the elitist, anti-democratic sentiments of the contemporary “progressive.”
Believe her; she means what she says.
Like a slave-owner in the pre-Confederacy US South, Pelosi speaks her mind without concern that her words will betray her as a brute.
To Pelosi, elections are an irritating hindrance. Her logic is inescapable: until we all share the same values, the opinions of individuals should be politically impotent; therefore elections must be downgraded to insignificance. When all citizens think alike, elections will be unnecessary.
And…she calls herself a Democrat.
Israel, The UN, The Arabs And Obama/Hillary
The New Terrapin reprints the remarks of Dan Freeman, originally posted here, as worthy of your consideration.
Obama And The Peace Process: A Salvage Operation
In the beginning, BHO promised to create a “Palestinian” state within two years of his ascendance to the Oval Office. We’ve already passed that point, and thanks to Obama’s Arabophilia the “peace process” is going in reverse. The Arabs no longer see the need to negotiate with Israel and (now) dream of the Jewphobic UN doing all the work for them. Somewhere along the line, the Israelis must have delivered a loud message to the White House that two can play the same game, and the Arab end run, if not blocked, would mean the end of the Oslo process once and for all. I wish I was there to see the look of fright on Barack’s and Hillary’s faces after that meeting with the Israelis ended. But instead, we’ll have to look for their expressions of panic in the dead-end policies they pursue.
The items below are two sides of the same tarnished slug. Heads, Obama is trying to slow down the “international community’s” diplomatic offensive so as to keep Israel on the hook. Tails, Obama’s giving Assad a free pass. Though the Syrian is a butcher who makes Gadhafi look like Pee Wee Herman, Obama has a big investment in the regime, especially the idea that Assad is essential to another diplomatic cliché, a comprehensive solution. The real question is whether Obama can keep his benighted Middle East pipe dreams from collapsing before election day 2012. In truth, I don’t envy the man. The table he’s set for himself reminds me of Lucy and Ethel trying to keep up with the chocolate assembly line. And we all know how that ends.
Says a character in a “wingnut” cartoon: “…the Republican party outsourced itself. The Tea Party got them elected, conservative internet sources spread Republican ideals, Sarah Palin speaks up for the electorate, Bachman and Paul lead the legislative reform, and Trump takes on the issues they’re too scared to mention. I think people are fed up with forty years of a GOP apprenticing to be government ‘lite.'” Yup.
Just how candid has Japan been about its problems with those reactors? There may be financial reasons for a, unh, less than truthful policy. A hat tip goes to JY for this link.
It’s illegal for teachers to call in sick in order to boycott education. Now the “smoking gun” has been found.
The subject is described as “…the complex issues surrounding America’s gun culture….” That’s an unintentionally revealing way of referring to firearms legislation and how the electorate views it. Bigots fantasize “gun culture” clashing with all other presumed cultures, which makes about as much sense as claiming that the “stamp collecting culture” is struggling to supplant the “Martha Stewart culture.” Approaching constitutional questions and matters of human rights from that perspective sweeps away the rational prerequisites that specify how ethical and legal matters are addressed. It assumes a mindless war between an infinitely varied group of hobbyists and everybody else, and dispenses with any belief in the value of current understandings of what it means to be human and what it means to govern decently. That is presumptuous, elitist, and irredeemably prejudicial. Or had you not thought of it that way?
The New Terrapin says it every so often, because it’s true: Islam’s ultimate weapon is demographic. Recall that Indonesia has more Muslims than any other nation on Earth, and you may wonder what chance there is for Australia’s cultural survival in decades to come. The Aussies can respond, “No worries, Mate,” for there is a way to render Indonesia essentially self-limiting. Kentucky, Virginia, the Carolinas and a few other US states are helping Australia secure its future.
Libya. Boy, this really is beginning to stink. It started with incompetence and emerged as an absurdity. Surely even the most rabid Obamaniac must see that the USA has blundered into a genuine quagmire. This calls up memories of the Bay of Pigs…another US president, again a Democrat, is made to look like a fool by some degenerate thug who is ravaging his own captive nation. The New Terrapin asks with a shiver of dread: what are those amateurs in DC planning now? What haphazard misadventure is next? There seems to be no end to their gauche fantasies.
“Progressives” emphasize fairness. They believe government has a number of responsibilities, and making life fair — whatever that means can be defined later — is one of them. If life is fair, everyone will be better off. Well, that’s bunk, because what “progressives” are really interested in is control (see the item on Pelosi, above). Here’s more on the issue.
Everyone knows you can’t run a city well, provide good services, and somehow keep taxes from going up. Everyone is wrong. The secret: not getting trapped into having a lot of public service employees and a union like SEIU. It has been done. Click and learn.
