At no time, not even at the beginning, did genuine Arabs and Muslims show much interest in science and scholarship. Aristotle’s work was preserved in Arabic not initially by Muslims, but by Christians such as the fifth century priest Probus of Antioch, who introduced Aristotle to the Arabic-speaking world.

The Cult Issues An Illogical Pronouncement

There has been no pause in anthropogenic global warming, according to a new paper that’s examined here. There are major flaws in the claim: first, it does not demonstrate that mankind is responsible, even if it is correct about the steady warming of the earth; climate change could have other causes than atmospheric carbon dioxide. Then the nature of the alleged warming is inaccurately described: a uniformity of land and sea temperatures is assumed, even though that has never been demonstrated.

How could professional scientists make such mistakes? The answer — that the errors support cultic dogma, not science — is not dismissed by the repetition of claims of scholarly consensus.

If you are curious, you will find a full explanation here, with additional clarification in this weblog post.

Finally, gain a sense of perspective: watch a video of a conversation with Freeman Dyson. It’s a gentle reminder that carbon dioxide is not taking the world to hell in a handbasket.

The One Leader Presumes

What is this? According to this explanation, “…the agreement will limit governments’ ability to write banking regulations, energy policy, food safety standards and even government purchasing decisions. It will allow corporations and investors to sue governments for lost profits if the governments try to make and enforce environmental, labor and other laws.”

From here:

The union lobbying has been effective: members of the president’s own Democratic party as well as Republicans on Friday rejected a program to give aid to workers who lose their jobs as a result of US trade deals with other countries in a 302-126 vote.

That was quickly followed by the House’s narrow approval of a separate measure to give Obama “fast-track” authority to negotiate the TPP trade deal.

However, without the worker assistance package, the fast-track measure cannot move forward into law, meaning it is currently “stuck” in the House.

The best clarification of the complex bar fight is probably to be found here.

Most of the opposition to Fast Track and the TPP comes from the “Progressives”, labor unions, and “Green” groups.

RIP Sir Christopher Lee. We have lost a true multi-talent. What a biography! Don’t miss the section about his WW II service. And this is much better than Bobby Darin’s version.

Here is an outstanding analysis of the current political and social situation in Turkey by Elif ┼×afak, who has an impressively cosmopolitan biography.

California’s water problems were — pardon the expression — soluble. As usual, it was the Mean Greenies that messed things up.

You remember Silk Road and the surprisingly harsh sentence handed to its founder Ross Ulbricht (see Nr. 384 of this newsletter). Some observers are shocked, shocked do you hear, by the metaphorically violent comments made on the internet — comments provoked by the judge’s notion of just punishment. One difference between the commenters and the judge is that the former huffed and puffed with Grand-Guignol theatricality, while the latter actually did something excessive.

Thanks go to Reader JW, who recommends an excellent video on the fall of South Viet Nam. This heartbreaking event signaled to the world that the United States would fight, bleed, and ultimately run, setting a precedent that Islamofascism today regards as predictive. Highly recommended.

Commentary says: “The entire history of the administration’s talks with Iran is the story of one American concession after another”. Yes. Obama wants to get something, just about anything, on paper, and then get out. He hopes that future circumstances will be different, and that Iran will not use its atomic weapons. Because the mad mullahs are passionately eager for the catastrophes that will eventually summon theMahdi, The One Leader is tragically wrong. Remember: the Muslim faithful who perish in holy war are martyrs; they and their families are guaranteed entry into heaven. Obama seems to think Muslims do not actually believe the predictions and promises of their religion. But…fortified by faith in a bloody-minded deity that demands their obedience and love (and viciously savages unbelievers and apostates), observant Muslims anticipate a transitional period of apocalyptic war, famine, pestilence, and martyrdom — to be followed by bliss, either on earth or in heaven (depending on which Muslim you consult). That psychopathology is not exclusively Islamic, of course.

This is a promising report that ends on a note of despair. Highest possible recommendation.

Back in the White House, in whatever capacity? Watch at least the first ten minutes of the video….

The solar minimum is serious, but…the global warming cult still basks in media approval, thanks to its “consensus” of scientists. Meanwhile, take a look at the truth of the matter. (Yes, the linked presentation is a bit shrill. That’s because its creator is frustrated.)
